Wepwawet Anubis pharaoh Narmer Anput (Middle and New kingdom)

An Egyptian ankh necklace

The story of Horus is told in the "myth of Osiris" which comes from the ancient capital of Egypt, Heliopolis.

At the beginning of the myth of Osiris, the pharaoh-god Osiris who ruled Egypt since the dawn of time is assassinated by his brother Set, jealous of him. The loss of a good monarch like Osiris plunged the Egyptian country in chaos: Set who succeeded his brother leads a reign without any concern for the people of Egypt.

A pendant from ancient Egypt

With the help of the gods Anubis and Thoth, the wife of Osiris, Isis put together the remains of the body of Osiris that had been chopped up by Set, and Anubis embalmed the pharaoh-god body (creating the first mummy of Egyptian history).

During the embalming of the body of Osiris, Isis brought back the spirit of Osiris and managed to get pregnant of Horus. Later, Horus will succeed to reestablish peace and harmony in Egypt. Indeed, the supreme god Ra, suggests that Horus and Set decide who is worthy of ruling on Egypt by an apnea duel that Horus will win: Set is banished in the desert and Horus become the third divine king-god of Egypt.
