An ancient Egyptian bracelet
The Egyptian priest Maneton (4th/3rd century BC) based the chronology of ancient Egyptian history on a division into thirty successive dynasties.
However, thanks to new archaeological researches, we now also have information on Egypt's past before the period described by Maneton: the predynastic and protodynastic periods. Indeed, during these two periods, Egyptian civilization evolved from a land of agricultural producers to a country ruled by powerful pharaohs.
