An ankh bracelet

The ankh looks like a big T with a loop on its top (the part that was held by the gods in Egyptian artistic representations). The ankh became the Egyptian sign of life and the symbol and attribute of all deities.

Many Egyptologists believe that, in the symbolism and beliefs of ancient Egypt, this symbol was supposed to give immortality and eternal health. It was also a symbol of reconciliation with the gods of the afterlife, giving access to the eternal and happy life offered by the pharaoh-god Osiris.

An ancient Egypt bracelet

According to the Egyptian priest Maneton, the first king of Egypt was Menes. Menes was the son of the king of Upper Egypt Narmer and is today considered as the first ruler of the "First Dynasty of pharaohs".

Indeed, at the beginning of the reign of Menes, the ancient Egypt that we know nowdays was divided in two parts: the Lower Egypt and the Upper Egypt that Menes will unify. Thus, the name "Menes" (which can be translated as "He who preserves") is quite an appropriate nickname for the ruler who accomplished the work of Egypt unification.
