Wepwawet Anubis pharaoh Narmer Anput (Middle and New kingdom)

An Egyptian ankh necklace

The ankh was linked (as a symbol of rebirth) to the goddess Isis and her husband Osiris. Indeed, after he was killed by his brother Set, Isis resurrected him with the help of the wolf-headed god Anubis.

Several pharaohs had the word "ankh" in their names, including Tut-ankh-Aten (living image of Aten) and Tut-ankh-Amun (living image of Amun).

A pendant from ancient Egypt

From the gathering of the primitive tribes that created the first Pharaonic Kingdom to its absorption by the Roman Empire in the first century BC, ancient Egypt was the scene of major events that certainly influenced the culture and imagination of the peoples that succeeded it.

Its art and architecture were widely copied and its antiquities were scattered all over the world. A renewed interest in the ancient period at the beginning of the modern era led to numerous scientific investigations of Egyptian civilization (including a lot of excavations) and to a better appreciation of its cultural heritage.
